Why have 300,000 people chosen to reside in Puerto Vallarta since 1962?

Because:
John Huston filmed the Night of the Iguana?
Liz Taylor and Richard Burrton’s love affair in Gringo Gulch?
The Reasonable cost of living?

Yes to all of the above, and there is much more…

Puerto Vallarta is not just the most beautiful city in the whole wide world; it is a city with a heart and soul. The natives of this unique part of our planet are gentle people who have through tenacious determination managed to preserve the quality of their simple carefree life style despite the huge number of Expatriates who have caused the population of the city to grow from 2,000 inhabitants to over 300,000 in the last forty years.

This 2000 people who were the original citizens of this lovely city occupied the region south of the River Cuale. The charm of that small portion of what is now Greater Puerto Vallarta, the warmth of the people and their descendants seduced those who came later causing them to recognize the treasure that existed here. Despite their own history the newcomers have remarkably adapted themselves to the existing culture, thereby reducing the impact of the huge increase in the population in the four decades following the filming of “ THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA ”. There has been an ongoing unified effort on the part of the original citizens and those who have migrated from numerous regions of Mexico and other parts of the world, to preserve not only the culture, but the environmental quality of greater Puerto Vallartal.

To live in Puerto Vallarta today is to experience the celebration of life. One is never at a loss for something to do. Puerto Vallarts is situated in an immense horseshoe bay with over 100 miles of shoreline. The numerous restaurants and food stands spare no effort to outdo each other in quality and service. Fiestas seem to come one after another. The city sponsors many local and regional fairs, musical concerts, cultural projects, and the numerous Art Galleries host open house events displaying the excellent works of both local artists and others from beyond the Puerto Vallarta area.
